Bio: I was raised among the rust in Lorain, Ohio about thirty miles west
of Cleveland. My elementary school years were spent playing G.I. Joe's, listening to Hip Hop & breakdancing with The Planet Rock crew. I won second place at a breakdancing competition in the Lorain County area and went to the regional finals at Terminal tower where I got to meet Janet Jackson. I didn't even make it to the second round. At the beginning of my sixth grade year I got a descent stereo system for my birthday from my parents. (more)

Bio Continued:

Late one Saturday night I hooked my stereo up to the old TV antennae on the top of our house and while thumbing around at the end of the dial I discovered a thrash metal show on the local college radio station WOBC. I instantly became hooked. Metallica, D.R.I., Slayer, and Exodus replaced the slots in my cassette tape holder that were previously occupied by Slick Rick,Whodini,Mantronix, and Run DMC. I used to work myself up into an asthma attack at school so I would get sent home from school early to catch my favorite radio shows on WOBC. I made new friends at school that were into metal also and started trading tapes. Some of the tape swaps were for bands like the Dead Milk Men, & the Cramps. Those bands along with my introduction into the world of skateboarding led to my subscribing to Thrasher Magazine, and in through The Notes From The Underground segment I discovered a plethora of new bands. Music and Skateboarding were all I cared about from that point on.

My grades started slipping in school, and I got placed in remedial math class. Although I excelled in English the school system labeled me stupid and the councilors placed me in regular classes where I was forced into fights and got sent to detention on regular basis. I was often suspended even though I was usually defending myself. My old friends from The Planet Rock Crew defended me from sixth grade up into high school because I was a runt. I didn't even weigh 100 pounds and was very short for my age. I didn't even have to fight most of my battles. I always had back and my old friends were in trouble every day and would take the fall for me to keep me out of trouble. In junior high school all the long hairs, and skaters would hang out in the school yards and parks skating and talking about starting bands.
During that period a lot of gangs started forming and the skaters and the Metal Heads got labeled as a gang because we would always skate and hang out in groups. They called us The Headbangers. Trying to make it home from school or from a hard day of skating and hanging out proved to be real difficult. We would get jumped on a regular basis, especially when you were skating alone. My friend and I even had guns fired at us on our way from his house to mine. We still had fun though even though to have fun we always had to watch our backs.

High School started off great I was put into a fine arts program and was very happy taking Art,English and music classes, but that ended just a few weeks into my 9th grade year. The school levy didn't pass and they cut all the Magnet programs to keep the sports programs going. The sports programs eventually went too. Back into the regular classes I went, and I was miserable once again. Most of my friends stopped skateboarding so it wasn't as fun skating by myself .I eventually lost interest in it, but I still loved music. A few of my friends were taking guitar, and drum lessons, and were wanting to start a band. I wanted a guitar for X-mas,but Jason Molina a from a popular high school band The Spineriders talked me into asking my parents for a bass instead. (He is now known as Songs Ohia and has a lot of really great records out on Secretly Canadian). I asked my dad to get me a bass and he brought one home the very next day. That was the coolest thing he ever did for me. I started my first band Plaid Frog and we sucked so bad, but our friends bands Neo-Nothing and the Spineriders would still let us play with them. I went on to start a whole lot of bands since.

My tenth grade year the school levy passed, but all of the classes I wanted were full so I had to stay in regular classes. A few months into the school year during a game of flag football that took place in the only unnecessary but mandatory class that every kid had to suffer through, Physical Education some meathead decided to ram his skull into my stomach causing my spleen to rupture. I was sent to the school nurse during every class throughout the day but she did not believe that I was hurt. At the end of the school day I collapsed outside of the school and nobody helped me .My mother was late picking me up, but eventually she arrived at the school to find her son curled up in a ball nearly unconscious. Needless to say I eventually received medical attention and a month later returned to school. Upon returning to school a meeting between my mother, school officials and myself occurred where it was decided that I get all the classes I want, an A in Physical education & my very own elevator pass.

My mother never sued, but my education improved drastically. I went on to become editor for the school paper. I loved writing, and through a series of editorials convinced a lot kids that Sonic The Hemp Hog Shirts & Marijuana hats was not where it was at. I unintentionally started a small straightedge movement that went on for a few years even after I graduated. My straightedge days were very short lived. I think it lasted less than a year, but a few kids that were influenced by my editorials carried on that lifestyle for years. After graduation I didn't write much at all except lyrics until recently. I have a ton of short stories, poems and I am currently keeping a journal. I'm also working on starting a record label, fanzine, and a website. Until those projects get off the ground you can catch me rockin peoples faces off with The Mcshitz,The Franchise & Self Destruct button in a Club,Hall, Basement or livingroom near you...
