Evil Clowns got together in 1988, after Taylor and Teitelbaum met at Nine of Clubs (a very un-punk venue, for certain!). Recruiting their friends Bacik and Sheinton, all they needed was a drummer. Songwriting began with a drum machine until a band member's girlfriend introduced the guys to Matthews. This lineup lasted several years until Matthews quit to join Spudmonsters. Chastain was found via an ad, and was a more than worthy replacement. Band dissolved when Sheinton decided to leave in order to persue other projects; after Matthew's departure, all members had agreed that any further lineup changes would ruin the integrity of the band. Only extant recordings are a 4-song demo tape and a half-dozen live gigs recorded to cassettes.
