Crawling from the Wreckage was put together by Heather Godwin, who was then working at Record Revolution, Robbie Spira, who was still in high school, Amy Halpert, who learned guitar just for the occasion, Kevin Deininger, who actually could play drums (I think) but instead worked a drum machine, and Steve Mastroianni, who played a toy keyboard and squawked on saxaphone. After the first few times out, Amy left the band. The rest forged ahead, with Heather and Steve writing the music, Robbie screaming about whatever bugged him, and Kevin chain smoking behind the drum machine. The band played numerous times at theLakefront and the Pop Shop, usually to inexplicably large crowds, and always (also inexplicably) as the headliner. They also played at the opening of CPT's then new digs on Detroit, along with Oral Authority. The music was alternately nihilistic, grating, and bizzare.
